Community Engagement

Invite Us to Your School Board Meeting

We will come to you — in person or via teleconference — to present the School Contact Initiative, answer questions from your board and community, and listen to every concern. No commitment required. Just an open conversation.

Your board meeting is the right place for this conversation

School board meetings are where communities make decisions about the education of their children. They are public, accessible, and designed for exactly the kind of open dialogue that a national initiative like this requires. We do not believe in asking communities to come to us — we believe in showing up where the decisions are made.

Whether your district is a large urban system with tens of thousands of students or a small rural school serving a few hundred families, every community deserves a direct, candid conversation about what the School Contact Initiative proposes, what it does not propose, and what it would mean for your students and staff.

We are prepared to address technical questions from your IT directors, legal questions from your board counsel, budget questions from your finance officers, and personal questions from parents and teachers in the audience — all in the same session.

We Travel to Your District

An Initiative representative attends your regularly scheduled public school board meeting and presents in the room, taking questions from board members and community members directly. We bring printed materials for attendees.

Join Remotely

We connect via Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or your district's preferred platform and are displayed live during your public meeting. Ideal for districts outside major metro areas or for preliminary conversations before committing to an in-person visit.

A structured presentation with open-floor time

Our standard board meeting presentation is designed to be respectful of your agenda and your community's time. We follow a clear format and leave substantial time for questions.

01

Opening Overview

A plain-language explanation of what the School Contact Initiative is, where it came from, and the specific problem it is designed to solve in K-12 communication. No jargon. 10–12 minutes.

02

How It Works

A clear walk-through of the dual-domain alias system, the national numbering plan, and how a student's or teacher's identity would function under the framework. Includes specific examples relevant to your district's size and context. 10–12 minutes.

03

Privacy & Legal Overview

A focused review of how the system is designed to comply with FERPA, COPPA, and applicable state data privacy laws — and how it protects students from third-party data profiling. 8–10 minutes.

04

Open Questions & Community Comment

We open the floor — or the chat — to any question from board members, administrators, teachers, parents, or community members. We answer directly, acknowledge what we do not yet know, and take note of every concern raised. As much time as needed.

Any member of the public can request our presence

A board meeting invitation can come from a range of stakeholders. You do not need to be a board member to make this happen — if you want your school board to hear from us, reach out and we will work with you to make it possible.

School Board Members

Place us on your regular meeting agenda as a public information item. We are familiar with public meeting procedures and will work within your format and time constraints.

Superintendents & District Administrators

Bring us in before a policy decision point. Many administrators find it valuable to have an Initiative representative field community questions directly — so that staff can observe the conversation rather than manage it.

Teachers & Staff Unions

Request a presentation through your union or association leadership, or petition the board directly during public comment to add us to a future agenda. We are specifically committed to addressing the concerns of the educators who will use the system daily.

Parents & Community Members

Submit a public comment request or petition at your next board meeting asking the board to schedule a School Contact Initiative presentation. Use the public comment period — that is exactly what it is for.

State & County Education Officials

We are available for county office of education board meetings, state board committee hearings, and legislative informational sessions as well. Contact us to discuss format and scheduling.

PTA & Parent Organizations

Your organization can coordinate directly with the district to sponsor a presentation — either as a standalone community event or as part of a regularly scheduled board meeting. We will coordinate with whoever is organizing.

What we promise when we show up

No sales pitch.

We are not selling a product. We are presenting a policy initiative and seeking community input. We will not ask your district to commit to anything during or after our presentation.

Honest answers.

If we do not know the answer to a question, we will say so clearly and follow up in writing within five business days. We will not speculate or give misleading assurances.

We record every concern.

Every question, comment, and criticism raised in your community's meeting will be logged and reported back to the Initiative's policy team. Community input directly shapes Phase 2 design decisions.

We respect your timeline.

Board meetings run on tight schedules. We will fit within your allotted time, provide materials in advance for the board to review, and make ourselves available for a follow-up session if the community wants more time.
